Lyrics: NECRONOMIDOL
Music: Karl Casey
Inspired by a segment of the book The King in Yellow by Robert William Chambers, a book of 10 supernatural stories first published in 1895. The first 4 stories in he book concern a forbidden play called The King in Yellow. This song relates to Cassilda’s Song, which is from Act 1, Scene 2 of the play. If the song from the play is her point of view then NECRONOMIDOL’s song is from the point of view of her friend/confidante encouraging her to get out of Carcosa, a setting in the play.

Enveloping shadows
Eventide ablazeGlittering in the umbra
Stars of ill fortune
Light your wayThe song of your soul perish, never to perish
Throw off your mourning dress
Testify to your existenceLet your laments resound
Screaming out your final gaspTenebrous in haze
Shambles of the metropolisHeart unwavering
Eve of deliverance
Cast your rue upon the flamesYour ephemeral hope, never to perish
Throw off your mourning dress
Testify to your existenceYour strangled voice, never to perish
Throw off your mourning dress
Testify to your existenceLet your laments resound
Screaming out your final gasp
