Music: つきしま (Al-Kamar)
The song refers to an event called the “Dyatlov Pass Incident” that happened near a mountain called Kholat Syakhl in the northern Ural region in Russia. The name of the mountain in cyrillic is Холатчахль and translates to “Mountain of Death”.
In January 1959 a group of students from the Ural Polytechnical Institute went on a skiing expedition across the northern Ural Mountains. All members had level II hiking certification and were also experienced skiers. They began their expedition on January 25th. On February 12th they failed to send word of their progress and by the 20th family members demanded a rescue mission be formed. On February 26th the expedition’s abandoned and badly damaged camp was found. After some searching 5 bodies were found in the vicinity, all were minimally dressed. By May the other 4 bodies were found in a ravine. It appeared that 6 of the members had died of hypothermia and the other 3 from severe injuries. The tent that the expedition was staying in seemed to have been cut or ripped open from the inside and the cause of the mass hysteria that led to the end of the expedition is still unknown.
There was an MV released for this song which was recorded on October 11th 2014 and released January 2nd 2015.
